A great entrance should give guests tiny visual hints about what awaits inside.
From house numbers and mailbox design to landscape choices and hardscape elements—every detail should reflect the personality of the home. Kathryn likes to build anticipation through subtle clues, guiding visitors toward a final “reveal” that feels both welcoming and intentional.
2. Create a Warm Welcome
Courtyards act as a soft embrace before someone steps inside.
They help guests intuitively understand where to go and offer a comfortable transition between public and private space. Kathryn often uses two sets of house numbers—one near the street and one closer to the door—especially for larger properties.
